I finally went shopping! I purchased ingredients for three green smoothie recipes from the book. Today I made Super Green Morning Glory.
Day 3: Super Green Morning Glory
- 3 cups of water
- 2 handfuls of spinach
- 2 handfuls of green lettuce leaf
- handful of oak leaf lettuce
- 1 cup of strawberries (frozen)
- 1 mango (medium)
- 1 banana (medium)
Directions: Add to blender in the order listed. Blend well.
Yields: Just about 6 cups
As I was making this smoothie I thought I would definitely have to add more fruit. It is a very deep green. The consistency and color reminded me of baby poop. I know that is a gross visual for food, but honestly that is what it looks like.
So, I didn’t pour a full glass. Instead, I poured just a little bit to taste it. I had to sip it a few times because I was so surprised by how delicious it was! I am serious. The strawberries and mango take over the flavor of the morning glory smoothie.
One thing to note. Recently I read an article that most if not all of your vegetables and fruit should be chilled. So, everything in this smoothie came from the fridge or freezer. It is a chilly smoothie and again it tastes delicious!
I am sitting here sipping on it as I type. I honestly can not believe I am enjoying it based on what it looks like. Recipe, nutrition, and a picture of my results shown below.
